It is important to remember that anyone can make a Hospice referral. While a doctor must confirm the appropriateness of the patient and provide a written order, it is not necessary for the doctor to make the initial contact.
We encourage patients, family members and friends to discuss the Hospice option in cases of terminal illness. We encourage patients and their families to open up a dialog with their physician about the different ways Hospice can be of assistance.
